How to play

Praedix is a free knowledge game where you predict the results of Champions League matches. No money is involved and there are no prizes. What you earn is points and your place on the leaderboard.

Make your pick

For every match you choose one of three options: 1 home win, 0 draw, 2 away win. There's no score prediction. You can change your pick as often as you like until kickoff; when you make it doesn't affect your points.

Picks lock at kickoff

Picks close when the match kicks off. The time is checked against the server clock, not your device. After the lock, no one can change a pick or make a new one.

How points are calculated

Every outcome of every match has a point value. The result everyone expects has a low point value; a surprise has a high one.

  • Wrong pick: 0 points
  • Correct pick: the point value of the outcome you chose

Point values are set shortly before kickoff and don't change after that. They stay hidden until the match starts, then everyone can see them. Everyone who picks the same result gets the same points. If, exceptionally, a match has no point value, a correct pick on it is worth 1.00 point.

Example: a correct pick on a favourite's win might earn 1.20 points, while calling a surprise draw correctly could earn 5.40.

Which result counts

The normal-time result counts: 90 minutes plus the stoppage time added by the referee. Extra time and penalty shootouts don't change the result. That's why a draw is a valid pick in knockout rounds too. If a match is level after 90 minutes and one team goes through on penalties, everyone who picked the draw was right.

Postponed and cancelled matches

If a kickoff time changes, the lock moves with it and you can change your pick until then. If a match is postponed by days, its point values are set again for the new date. Nobody gets points from a match that is cancelled or awarded.

Leaderboard

The overall leaderboard is decided by the points you collect across the season. On equal points, whoever has more correct picks goes ahead. Every match day also has its own leaderboard, so even if you join late you can still top that week.

Groups

Set up your own group with friends, colleagues or family; every group has its own leaderboard. Private groups can only be joined with an invite code. Anyone can join a public group, though its creator can require approval. Picks stay hidden until the lock, even from the group's creator. After the lock, everyone's pick is revealed within the group. A group's leaderboard counts only matches that kick off after the group was created, so everyone in a group started mid-season begins level.
